Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: When we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
2 Corinthians 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
1 John 4:16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever is lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
We have to sacrifice a lot. We have to surrender everything. And it’s scary! But when you take your eyes/focus off of what you’re sacrificing and redirect it to the One you’re sacrificing for, it seems a little less daunting. Here, you have Jesus. The Son of God. The Creator of the universe, through Whom all was made and without Him there was nothing made that was made (John 1:3, 10, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Colossians 1:16, Hebrews 1:2). The only perfect One. He is love. He came down from His cushy, comfortable throne in Heaven and became like us, walked with us, talked with us. Doing absolutely nothing wrong, He took on every transgression we’ve ever committed, commit, and will commit for one reason: His great love. His love compelled Him to die for us, so He could bridge the gap that our sin created so we can return home to Him. He died for people who hated Him. He healed us and washed away our sin with the ultimate sacrifice–His perfect life. He promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He is so deeply entrenched and involved with every aspect of our lives and seeks to provide the best for us and work out things for us to His glory. He is there with us in our highs and is there with us in our lowest of times (He is quite often the only one who is there). He gives us hope, has a plan for us, intimately knows us, encourages us to be all that He designed us to be. He is our perfect example of the love, grace, and mercy that we should show to others. He didn’t just tell how to live, He showed us how to live. He left His Guide (His Holy Spirit) to show us/lead us in the way we should go.
In light of all that Christ has done and continues to do, I honestly feel that me sacrificing my life isn’t enough.
